ECOGIG outreach personnel and staff from CEISMC (Center for Education Integrating Science, Mathematics, and Computing) at Georgia Tech brought the Ocean Discovery Zone exhibit booth to 7th grade students at Rehoboth Road Middle School in Griffin, GA on Tuesday March 21st, 2017.

CEISMC staff previously engaged with students using teaching modules developed in collaboration with ECOGIG. The modules' content are based on ECOGIG research, specifically the impacts of hydrocarbons on deepwater ecosystems (corals in particular). These students then got the opportunity to learn more about the research ECOGIG is doing in the Gulf of Mexico by touring the Ocean Discovery Zone- they drove model ROV's (remotely operated vehicles), built models of deepwater corals and completed a scavenger hunt about ECOGIG's research.
