Dr. Meile uses numerical modeling to describe biogeochemical cycling and benthic-pelagic coupling of carbon and nutrients in sediments and groundwater. Focus areas include the interpretation of observational flux, rate and concentration data through quantitative system analysis, the study of the effect of benthic macrofauna on early diagenesis, and the explicit integration of microbial processes with flow and transport in porous media at both the micro-and macroscale.
